To learn about the 5 lies Affiliate Marketer’s tell you, I always tell future affiliate marketers to subscribe to newsletters – see what kind of “gift” (lead magnet) they offer you to join their email list, then actually read the emails…
You can learn a lot from reading Affiliate Marketer’s emails… you’ll quickly realize that the overwhelming majority of them are trying to sell you something, and not making any particular effort to help you.
This will be excellent training for when you create your own mail-list. You’ll understand why the vast majority of emails don’t get read. Do you want your emails read? Offer good and interesting content, and people will open your emails.
Here’s a recent email I got from one of the many affiliate marketers I subscribe to:
From $0 to $300 a day without websites
Where do most people fail? Usually at content creation – it gets too much. Too complicated. Too time consuming.
But if you remove the need for content creation, everything becomes way easier.
Think about it, if you remove the need for:
– websites
– hosting
– content creation
– email marketing
– sales copy
– design skills
– art skills
– tech skills
Removing ALL of the above, think how much easier a business would be.
That’s why I think that for people who are just starting out, creating Colouring Books using AI is a super powerful way to get started online.
Sure, it requires a liiiiittle bit of work, but way less than virtually anything else online.

Now, can anyone spot the problems here? He’s appealing to people’s laziness – and trying to convince you that you don’t need to learn the business of online marketing. As an example of the lies that Affiliate Marketer’s tell you – this is an excellent example! Let’s acknowledge the possibility that one could earn $300/day (as unlikely as that is) – and consider the issues with such a method:
- Okay – you sell one book. Can’t sell another to the same customer – you don’t have the customer’s email address to market additional coloring books to the same customer. You have to hope that something else you’ve designed also appeals to him.
- Your only traffic would be to the keywords used. Selling ebooks is intensely competitive. I did a quick Amazon search, and coloring books in general had 60,000 results. When you drill down, and look only for “Unicorn Coloring Books,” you’re still competing with 4,000 other books!
- You don’t own a thing – you really don’t have other platforms to sell your coloring book, so Amazon owns you. If they decide to kill your sales, you’ve lost instantly.
- Why is this course being sold? You will be a DIRECT competitor! Just how long is your success going to be in a overcrowded field of direct competition?
- Trading time for money is the concept we are trying to avoid – the moment you stop creating new coloring books is when your income will begin to dry up.
Interestingly enough, when I took a few minutes to investigate this “$300 a day” method, I found a Youtube video showing someone who’d made 20 coloring books, and he’s listed his profit after all expenses… a grand total of $378.93… over SEVEN MONTHS! So if he started Jan 1st, his daily profit would amount to $1.79 every day. You couldn’t even buy a cup of coffee with your 20 coloring books!
Now, if you’re a creative person, and you love coloring books – the lies affiliate marketer’s tell you isn’t going to affect you at all. There’s no reason why I would discourage you from doing what you love… but if you’re going into this to make money, you’re quite certainly going to be disappointed.
There’s already a backlash against AI created content – because many people are using AI to replace human creativity and expression. This will only increase in the future – if you think you can make a good income using AI to create coloring books, I have a really great bridge I’d like to sell you.
The main reason why Affiliate Marketing is effective is because it requires the creation of valuable content. It’s important to note that while affiliate marketing can indeed be a way to earn money online there are misleading claims made by some affiliate marketers in order to attract sign ups (and your money…)
5 Common Lies Affiliate Marketer’s Tell You
- “You can easily make a lot of money through affiliate marketing.” While this statement is true, it’s misleading in that affiliate marketing operates as a business and, like any business it demands time and effort for success. Overnight riches are not realistic. If you’re hoping for any financial results in a time period shorter than 8-12 months – you’re dreaming.
- “Making money with affiliate marketing is effortless.” Unfortunately this claim is false. Affiliate marketing involves an amount of work. There are no guarantees of success. It requires dedication to learning about aspects such as: creating websites, understanding email marketing strategies, mastering copywriting techniques – among other necessary skills.
- “No prior experience is necessary to earn money through affiliate marketing.” This statement is also inaccurate. While having a college degree or formal training is not necessary to start with affiliate marketing – having some experience in marketing can certainly be beneficial. It will give you an understanding of how to attract website traffic and convert visitors into customers. If you don’t understand marketing – you’ll need to learn the topic.
- “You can make money with ANY product.” It’s important to note that certain products are more lucrative than others and not all products are suitable for affiliate marketing. Consider “eggs” – pretty much in everyone’s refrigerator – no selling needed to convince people they need eggs, yet a horrible product to try to market on a website. Why wouldn’t a customer simply run down to Vons, Ralphs, or some other local grocery store and pick up a dozen??? Conduct your own research. Choose affiliate marketing products that align with your beliefs and appeal to your target audience. (and don’t try to sell eggs on your website!) 😀
- “You can earn money without spending any money.” Although there are affiliate marketing techniques that don’t require an investment of at least some money – they often come with drawbacks that should be avoided. Exchanging your time for money by posting content on Social Media or other platforms over which you have no control – may well generate income but may not be the effective use of your time.
These are just a few of the lies affiliate marketer’s tell you. You can find all of these on Youtube, for example. If you’re considering starting an affiliate marketing business – it’s crucial to conduct research. Don’t blindly believe everything you hear; instead feel free to ask questions and seek information.
Here are some suggestions to help you steer clear of affiliate marketing scams…
Staying Clear Of Affiliate Marketers Lies…
• Take the time to do research before joining any affiliate marketing program. Look into the company and its products – read reviews, explore their website, and see what others have to say about the program.
• Be cautious of anyone making promises about earning easy money through affiliate marketing. Such claims are often associated with scams. Remember that achieving success in affiliate marketing requires time and effort.
• Avoid programs that ask for payments. Requiring payment in advance is a warning sign of fraud. Legitimate affiliate marketing programs do not demand any fees. Affiliate marketing as I show it has nothing to do with “Done For You” types of scams.
• Exercise caution when providing information for affiliate marketing programs. Some may request details, like credit card numbers or Social Security numbers. Only share this information with companies you trust.
By following these recommendations you can safeguard yourself against falling victim to the lies Affiliate Marketer’s tell you. While legitimate opportunities exist for making money through affiliate marketing it’s crucial to remain aware of the associated risks.
One very useful trick that can open your eyes is to search Youtube for videos using the search term “I tried that”… so for example, if you want to start using the Social Media platform “Pinterest” – simply search Youtube for “I tried affiliate marketing on Pinterest.” You’ll quickly be able to find people who have actually used some method – and begin to understand the pros and cons of any particular method.
Pay attention not to just people making wild claims… but people who seem to be telling you the truth. You know what I mean. It’s all too easy to believe and dream… don’t look for the dreams, look for the truth.
