Products For Affiliate Marketing

Many people suggest that you start out your affiliate marketing by selecting the products for affiliate marketing you want to sell … first.

I Disagree!

You’re wasting time that should be spent on creating quality content for your blog. Before you sell anything at all you need to have a reliable flow of traffic coming from the search engines. Once this happens, and you’re picking up thousands of views a month, THEN, and only then, can you begin to look at products to sell. You may find that the products you thought were going to be a good fit – just aren’t.

Everything starts with content, if you don’t have it, you don’t have any love from the search engines. Write, write, and write some more… then when your Google Analytics shows that you’re getting traffic – THAT is the time to start looking into ways to earn money from your traffic.

I’m well aware that many other people will tell you to start with a product or service you want to get commissions from – but in my humble view, this is putting the cart before the horse. The horse is the traffic – you need traffic first. If you have traffic, all things are possible.

You may find that in your wide variety of topics within your niche, just one small subtopic has taken off, and is forming the majority of your traffic – you sell a product that THEY want.

As this blog, Cheap Affiliate Marketing evolves – I don’t know what products I’ll end up selling… but I do have a few guidelines… I’ll certainly show hosting packages – you can’t start a serious affiliate business without a website – so that is certainly on my plate.

I also know what I won’t be selling – is some secret manual I’ve developed to help you earn thousands in the first month.

On this website, I’ll be giving you upfront what others want money for… how to develop your own Affiliate Marketing business and quit your day job. And because I’m telling you everything, and holding nothing back – there’s nothing left for me to create an Ebook to sell.

My own particular unique selling proposition (USP) is that I’m telling you publicly all that I know and all that I learn about affiliate marketing – you don’t have to pay anything. So I will never end up selling an ebook I wrote (It’s all right here!), nor will I create a membership site.

Now, keeping in mind that the search for products will happen MONTHS after you’ve created your website – here are a few products for affiliate marketing to check out… keep in mind that as I don’t know what niche you’ve chosen, these can only be possibilities for you to look through.

  1. Amazon Affiliate Program
This is a no-brainer… Amazon is the largest affiliate program on the Internet – and even though the percentage they pay you is low – there’s very little sales resistance – people know what they’re buying and have few, if any, qualms about wasting their money. I’ve used them for years and made money with them.
  2. Clickbank.com
This is one of the most common affiliate programs known – they have many excellent (and many *trash*) products. With a wide variety of niche products, you’ll certainly find something within your niche to sell – but be careful you select only the most popular of items. (if your website readers ever buy a bum product based on your suggestion – you’ve just lost a customer for life.) With commissions ranging from 50-75%, these are all digital download products. I’ve used Clickbank and made money, definitely take a look! If you use Clickbank, CBSnooper.com is something you should become familiar with.
  3. JVZoo.com
This is primarily for those in the Make Money Online niche, and like Clickbank, has both good and poor products – it wouldn’t be a bad idea to purchase first what you want to recommend to your website, viewers – this also allows you to go into far more detail about what this product will do for your customer. I’ve used it to make money in the past. I’ve seen commissions as high as 100% (Seller earns on the re-occurring or backend.)
  4. CJ Affiliate – This used to be Commission Junction – and I’ve used them in the past. They have over 2,000 affiliated companies and generally pay 5-20% depending on the offer. This is where you’ll go if you’re selling physical products, and Amazon doesn’t have it.

Yes, I can list many other affiliate programs (A simple Google Search will pull up dozens!) – but I’ve only listed the ones that I make money with, or have made money from in the past. You can make a full-time income from just one affiliate offer – but it’s wise to diversify, and offer many products to your readers.

You need to think of your products for affiliate marketing on your website like a store… Yes, you can open a store that only sells one product, but they’re rare. Think about your own experience – you head over to the grocery store, and all they have is cheese – you’d quickly find another place to shop.

Same with your website – you need to eventually have a multitude of affiliate offers – not everyone will need the same things. But to re-iterate – this comes AFTER you’ve gotten your traffic numbers up – somewhere between 1,000 and 10,000 page views per month is – in my humble opinion, the correct time to start setting up your affiliate offers.

Follow me in this blog as I do exactly that.
