An Introduction To The Process…

Welcome to Cheap Affiliate Marketing – Let me first try to explain what this website is all about… a little history if you will.

I got started on the Internet back in the late 1980s when there was no such thing as a browser – you used ‘Gopher’ to find things in that prehistoric dial-up world. I gradually moved to publish online, my first website was hand-coded in a text editor in raw HTML. So I have some vague experience…. 🙂

The moment I saw a Youtube video describing how to earn affiliate income – I realized that there’s a ton of really bad information out there … giving many people false hope of quick riches. Let me draw you a short picture of what I saw:

I saw someone describing how to research various hosting packages – putting it into a spreadsheet, then using a website that would parse your spreadsheet into a webpage (SpreadSimple.com). The free service was too poor to be used, so you’d need to upgrade to the $13/mo package. Then the necessity of traffic was handled by posting answers on Quora… answering 50 questions a day was suggested. Pinterest was also mentioned, with the requirement that you post several times a day there as well.

Now let me dissect the errors in this money-making suggestion… first thing I noticed is that this “earning money online” concept is telling you to do all of your hard work on other people’s websites. You’re putting your sales info on SpreadSimple – and all of your tear-stained answers on Quora and Pinterest.

You don’t own your own material!!!

Why would you do that?

And this is another method of trading time for money – you don’t want to have to log into Quora and Pinterest day in and day out.

You want to put *YOUR* hard work on your OWN website… you want to combine your website posting with traffic generation.

Two Words For Youtube That Will Enlighten You!

There are many marvelous Youtube videos showing you how to make money quickly online… they prove the old adage that if it looks too good to be true – it’s not. And you can prove this to yourself very easily in one of two ways:

Try the method for making quick money that a video suggests.
Simply search Youtube for the phrase “I tried it“

Number one will take time… number two is almost immediate answers… you’ll find many people who have tried these ‘get rich quick’ schemes… and found out the hidden problems that cause most of them to be a waste of time.

Even some ‘methods’ that actually work have hidden problems – for example, there’s one video showing a young lady putting up a Tik Tok video every day… and after two months, she started hitting days up to $400 in a single day. Impressive, no? No. She’s trading her time for money… if she stops posting Tik Tok videos – her traffic will disappear.

Were she to be posting her videos on Youtube – they can sometimes have a longer ‘shelf-life’, and may drive traffic longer… but here’s the basic problem: You’re giving someone else your content. When you post a video on Youtube, Tik Tok, or anyplace else – you lose much of your rights to that video. You certainly never had any right to have the video shown – you’ll be at the mercy of the Youtube or Tik Tok “algorithm.”

Posting videos is fine if they are only used for sending traffic to your own website. But as a primary means of developing traffic – no. Just say no. Develop your traffic by building your own content on your own website.

How does that work?

By writing good information that will enrich your viewers – properly SEO’d, you’ll get love from Google and other search engines – and they’ll start sending traffic to you organically. This is information that YOU own and can transfer to any other site you may move to…

Now, did the viewers of that Youtube video understand the pitfalls of this “online affiliate program” idea? I don’t think so… there’s far too much misinformation being passed along – and there’s certainly money being made – but most often not by those who tried following the method – but by the person hyping these “get rich quick” schemes.

There’s always money to be made by telling others what they want to hear…

Now, a second pitfall for this “SpreadSimple” plan that you might not have noticed… I just purchased 4 YEARS of web hosting, a good business plan with 200Gb of storage, and the capacity to host 100 websites for $3.59/mo. I would have only gotten a year and a month if I’d done what this Youtube money-making plan suggests…

Now, this is far from the cheapest website hosting that I could have found, but I needed to balance the price with what benefits I’d get – and for me at this time, Hostinger was my choice. I also have websites on Hostgator. But all my hosting packages together don’t amount to $13 a month!

So What Am I Doing Here?

I realized that there was a niche possibility here that might not be well represented – everyone likes to tell you how to get rich quickly the easy way – but I’m here to tell you that it will take work. It’s work that you’re certainly capable of, even if you’re also working a full-time job. (As I am!)

If you’re reading this – you have access to a computer, access to the Internet, and a working knowledge of the English language – that’s all you need! And if you’re like me – looking to retire in a few years – you have a wealth of information in you… If a 20-year-old can do this – how much better can YOU be earning money online?

Everything else you’ll learn as you go… and I’m going to be your guide. I’ll be showing you everything I do, and where to go for help. Would it be worth your time to learn how to create a website if you could quit your job in 1-2 years?

No, this isn’t ‘get rich quick” – there’s no free lunch – you’ll need to become familiar with how to create a website on the Internet… As one guy says on Youtube – “I have a face for radio and a voice for print“… I’m exactly in that boat – I’m not a young cute guy who can talk fast and impress people. So writing an anonymous blog in the hopes of helping others earn money online is the best option for me.

Just like any job – you have to learn your craft. But unlike most everyday jobs, making money online with affiliate marketing can be very profitable – and one in which you can work your own hours, and take a month off whenever you want. It’s becoming easier and easier with the advent of artificial intelligence, but you still have to put in the work.

I Don’t Know How To Create A Website?!

I was making an Eggplant Lasagna for the very first time about a year ago – and I put the oil in the pan and tossed in a few Eggplant slices, turned around… and when I looked at the pan moments later – THERE WASN’T A DROP OF OIL IN THAT PAN! So I stopped what I was doing, and went to Google to see how to make Eggplant Lasagna… a video showed it step by step – and one of those steps was to do what they called an “Egg Wash” – I needed to dip the Eggplant in scrambled eggs… who knew???

Not I… I had no idea that Eggplants are sponges – and would soak up every drop of oil in a three-mile radius… but I knew right where to go to save the rest of my sliced Eggplant and save my meal.
